Join a dedicated volunteer community to help restore and maintain the only nature sanctuary in the heart of San Antonio! Saturdays are dedicated to work in the forest.
Our Saturday sessions are usually devoted to the Invasive Plant Management Program. We are working to improve the Headwaters Sanctuary habitat biodiversity. The first step is removal of invasive plants, primarily Ligustrum which has grown into multi-trunk 2 to 3-story plants. We also remove Chinaberry, Xylosma, Nandina, Loquat, and Cat’s Claw Vine. Headwaters provides tools, equipment, supplies, and work gloves. Volunteers bring their own water supply.
Register for the volunteer session by contacting volunteer@headwaters-iw.org. Meet up locations and parking information, weather cancellations, and any other info is issued by email only to registrants.
We are not accepting walk-in volunteers at this time.
