Randy Lea Barnes, historical archive researcher, will offer his insights on how the cultural identity of indigenous inhabitants throughout New Spain was impacted by the Spanish Catholic Church Doctrine and scholarly judgements made by anthropologists, ethnologists, and social theorists. Mr. Barnes will demonstrate the impact these events had on the indigenous populations in Texas.
Mr. Barnes is a member of the Texas Historical Genealogical Society and the National Genealogical Society. He lecturers on NAGPRA issues within Texas. Mr. Barnes has been a NAGPRA Tribal Historic Preservation Program consultant for the Lipan Apache Band of Texas, Inc. and the Payaya Lipan Lineal descendant group.
