LORDS OF NATURE: LIFE IN A LAND OF GREAT PREDATORS

Birds, butterflies, beaver and antelope, wildflowers and frogs — could their survival possibly be connected to top predators like the wolf and cougar? Narrated by Peter Coyote…this captivating documentary goes behind the scenes with leading scientists to explore the role top predators play in restoring and maintaining ecosystems and biodiversity.

Wolves and cougars, once driven to the edge of existence, are finding their way back — from the Yellowstone plateau to the canyons of Zion, from the farm country of northern Minnesota to the rugged open range of the West. Lords of Nature: Life in a Land of Great Predators tells the story of science now discovering the great carnivores as revitalizing forces of nature, and a society now learning tolerance for the beasts they had once banished. www.greenfireproductions.org/the-films/lords-of-nature/

THE NEXT, BEST WEST

The Next, Best West shows how our relationship to the landscape has evolved over the last hundred and fifty years. Now, modern pioneers are reinventing our collective understanding of progress. Through what they do every day, they are helping to redefine our relationship to the landscape.

This film is designed to show some of the hope and inspiration out there, rather than dwell on the doom and gloom of environmental reality. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves to look beyond just how much we recycle, how much organic food we buy, and if we changed our lightbulbs to compact fluorescents. With fewer open spaces and more people, more nutrient-deprived farmlands and more people to feed, we need to rethink how we interact with the landscape, and let that be a guide for how we live our lives.  www.kickstarter.com/projects/1775744297/the-next-best-west
