Phenology: The Living Calendar of Nature

The session will cover the basic understanding of phenological (plant, insect, bird, animal) cycles, document changes in those cycles over the past 100 years, and provide projections of continuing, accelerating, or new changes resulting from climate change in the future.

This presentation will be offered by Jon Zeitler, Science and Operations Officer, National Weather Service. Before joining the NWS, Mr. Zeitler was a climatologist at the Southeast Regional Climate Center in Columbia, South Carolina, the Texas State Climatologist’s Office at Texas A&M University, and the Agricultural Extension Service at Iowa State University. Mr. Zeitler holds a BS in meteorology from Iowa State University and a MS in meteorology from Texas A&M University.
