What is the Watermaster Program? Its mission, scope, and responsibilities? How did the program begin? How does it work? How does the Watermaster Program impact river flows? Al Segovia, a 12-year Watermaster, will discuss the program and answer questions. He has numerous Watermaster stories to share.
Al Segovia is a lifelong resident of San Antonio. After serving in the Air Force, he attended and graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos. He was employed at USAA in San Antonio.
In 1995, Mr. Segovia joined the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality, TCEQ. He was promoted to South Texas Watermaster in 2000. He oversaw 7 river basins and their major tributaries in 50 counties in South Central Texas. In 2005, Mr. Segovia implemented a Watermaster Program on the Concho River in San Angelo that encompassed an additional 8 counties. Retiring in 2012, Mr. Segovia now enjoys golf and spending time with his grandchildren.
The program will be offered in the Headwaters Sanctuary. Attendance is limited to 20. Registration is required.
