Join us for a one-day, all-volunteer event to clean up the San Antonio River! For the past 25 years, volunteers have worked to make San Antonio waterways more healthy and beautiful through Basura Bash. Volunteers will collect trash from the banks of Headwaters Sanctuary waterways to protect wildlife in the refuge and stop pollution from heading downstream.
Items gathered include recyclables, tires, metals, appliances, home items, and more. Trash is carried to our rivers and creeks by storm drainage, run-off, and careless human beings. This causes flooding, risking lives and damaging property. Gathering this trash is especially important in the Headwaters Sanctuary where the San Antonio River starts.
