Join us for iNaturalist workshop at Headwaters Sanctuary! iNaturalist is an online social network of people sharing biodiversity information to help each other learn about nature. It's also a crowd-sourced species identification system and an organism occurrence recording tool. You can use it to record your own observations, get help with identifications, collaborate with others to collect this kind of information for a common purpose, or access the observational data collected by iNaturalist users.
Participants will walk through what iNaturalist is, how to use it in the Texas Nature Trackers program, and how to use both the website and phone apps. The classroom portion will be followed up with a BioBlitz where we will practice using the app in the Sanctuary, collecting and sharing data with the iNaturalist network.
This workshop is led by Texas Parks & Wildlife staff in preparation for the City Nature Challenge, April 27-30, a fun weekend challenge to see which city can document the most species of flora and fauna. Come participate in this training to take part in the City Nature Challenge at Headwaters Sanctuary and other natural areas in San Antonio the weekend of April 27-30.
Three CEU credits are earned.
